What is MPL?

The Medennium Phakic Refrective Lenses (MPL) are precision made optical devices, available in different model/size for intraocular implantation. The optical portion is biconcave or concave-convex and made from sillicon elastomer. The haptics are spherical  and flexible for ease of insertion, and the overall lens shape is designed to conform to the natural shape of the posterior chamber of the human ryr, and to move with the dynamic changes of the eye. Gross centration, if necessary, is achieved via haptic contact with the ciliary sulcus with precise centration achieved through the iris self-centering design. The MPL is not fixed to the ciliary sulcus but is allowed by designed to floating in its self- centered position.

The posterior surface of the lens is designed to conform to the shape of the anterior capsule of the natural lens and to move with dynamic changes of the eye. Spherical and very flexible haptics. Lens is not fixated to the ciliary sulcus. Lens dimensions, shape and material properties enable “floating” on the natural lens without touching it. A layer of aqueous surrounds the MPL, avoiding contact to the crystalline lens and the pigment epithelium of the iris. Overall diameter smaller than sulcus to sulcus distance avoiding compression of intraocular structures.

Optimized Design Features Rounded edges throughout its entire contour. Maximized optic sizing as large as 6.0mm for powers up to -15.0 diopters. 50% thinner edges (0.1mm) securing the presence of a gap while improving buoyancy. Full spread of powers between -3.0 diopters up to -28.0 in 0.5 increments. The cornea is primarily responsible for focusing the light rays in our eyes. An irregular cornea which is not exactly spherical will cause spherical and cylindrical aberrations in the optical system.
A Toric EyePCL ensures correction of Spherical Aberrations in the eye while also correcting the Cylindrical errors.
A Monofocal or Spherical lens corrects only the Spherical errors and will not provide perfect quality of vision to the eye which has an irregular cornea, or in other words Astigmatism.

What is EYEPCL?

Implantable Phakic contact Lens (EyePCL) is like a soft contact lens, single piece posterior chamber phakic iol, which can be inserted into the eye through sub 2.8mm incision to correct vision of the eye.
The lens is customized according to shape & size of each eye.
Widest power range from +15D to -30D with cyl upto 8D.
Made from Hybrid Acrylic material to ensure long term performance.
The EyePCL lens is implanted inside the eye, between the Iris and the natural lens. It can be inserted into the eye
through sub 2.8 mm incision, to correct spherical, cylindrical or mixed errors within the eye’s optical system.
Once implanted in the eye, the EyePCL stays indefinitely. It can be replaced or removed from the eye, if your
vision changes over a period of time.
