Joshua from USA, Z2 LASIK at Kangnam Joeunnun International Eye Center in seoul, Korea

Joshua from USA, he had LASIK surgery at Kangnam Joeunnun International Eye Center on July 11, 2014. He is an english teacher at Jeongcheol English Institute in Seoul, but he is leaving for America in a month. He wanted to have a laser eye surgery to fix his myopia before he leave Korea as he knew that the laser surgery in Korea has been well known and not that expensive as compared to the laser surgery in USA. He came to our hospital last week to check his eyes. It was one week after the LASIK surgery. As we expected, his vision was great and clear. Although he told me he has light spread at night, but that is just normal process after the laser surgery. He will feel better with his vision even at night in several months.

Here are some pictures of him while he stayed at the hospital for the eye exam and LASIK surgery.

< Detailed Eye Exam for Lasik and Lasek >
It is not difficult and there is no pain for the detailed eye exam, and it is the most important process before the doctor decide if you are a right candidate for laser eye surgery.

1. This is a test for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. You can just put your chin and forehead to the equipment and if you look straight in there then you will find a balloon. Keep looking at the balloon then our specialist will check your vision. (Free Eye Test for Lasik and Lasek)

2. Intraocular pressure test. If you look in the equipment then you will find green light. You need to keep looking at the light. And please do not be surprised by air shots :) (Free Eye Test for Lasik and Lasek)

3. Corneal Topographic map test. We can check the shape and size of your cornea  which is most important factors for laser eye surgery. You do not need to be afraid of the equipment approaching your eyes just look at the greenlight in front of you. (Free Eye Test for Lasik and Lasek)

4.  This is the test for retina and optic nerve. While doing this test, do not be surprised by flash light, and keep watching green light(yellowish green). (Free Eye Test for Lasik and Lasek)

 5. This is the CT(Computed Tomography) exam of your cornea. If you look in the equipment through the long rectangular shape hole then you will find a black dot. And keep your eyes opened for three second. The specialist will sign you at the moment. (Free Eye Test for Lasik and Lasek)

6. Vision Test. (Free Eye Test for Lasik and Lasek)

7. This is the CT(Computed Tomography) for your retina. Put your chin and forehead to the equipment then look straight and when you find a yellow light, keep looking at the light. (Free Eye Test for Lasik and Lasek)

8. Ultrasound, Ultrasonography, for your cornea thickness. The specialist will put numbing drops into your eyes, and he will touch the surface of your cornea with an equipment, looks like a blunt point pencil, to check the cornea thickness. (Free Eye Test for Lasik and Lasek)

9. Lastly, the specialist will check the eye dryness by checking the tear amout. He will put a peice of short and thin paper into your eyes then you will close your eyes for a minute. (Free Eye Test for Lasik and Lasek)

<Z2 LASIK Surgery>

His eye conditions were good to go for both LASIK and LASEK. So after all the explanation for both surgery he finally decided to have Z2 LASIK surgery. Z2 LASIK surgery is to use Crystal line laser as a femtosecond laser which use to make the cornea flap and Amaris 750s laser as a Excimer laser which can actually fix the refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. The SCHWIND Amaris 750s laser has been well known in highest speed with extremely high precision.

 1. Free consultation, after the eye exam he had time to hear his eye condition and the options he could choose to fix his myopia based on the result of the eye exam, after all he chose Z2 LASIK surgery.

2. In the surgery waiting room, the doctor kindly explained what he should do while the LASIK surgery when he laid down on the bed.

 3. A cute nurse took his blood :) to make a special eye drop, PRP(platelet-rich plasma), which can help the healing process after the surgery.

 4. He was waiting for the Z2 LASIK surgery wearing a disinfected overgarment.

 5. In the surgery room.

 6. After the surgery, he took a rest for a while at the recovery room.

 7. The surgeon checked his eyes after the Z2 LASIK surgery.

 8. Every things were good, and the LASIK surgery was successful!

<Check up on the day after the LASIK surgery>

Matthew from USA, Z2 Lasik surgery at Kangnam Joeunnun International Eye Center in Seoul, Korea

Matthew from USA, he has been wearing contact lens for a long time, and he knew about laser eye surgery such as lasik and lasek that could fix the refractive errors of his eyes as his brothers already had done it. However, he was not sure which surgery between lasik and lasek would be good for him although his eye condition was good to go for both based on the result of eye exam which can figure out if you are a right candidate for laser eye surgery. So he could pick either lasik or lasek. He was, however, told before that cornea flap after lasik surgery could be moved by external shocks and that is why he was going to get lasek surgery. So we explained the rare possibility of his concern and after all, he decided to have lasik surgery and of course he could have had lasek surgery as well.

Our doctors never push a certain surgery like expensive surgery, we just give them all information which could help patients to decide for their valuable eyes.

The surgery was successful and now his vision is really good, and he will probably get 20/20 vision in several months.

I would like to introduce all the process for Lasik surgery that he got at our hospital since he agreed to post his pictures on our blog. Once more I would like to thank Matthew to allow us to use his pictures :)

Eye Exam which takes normally one and a half hours and it is most important process before the doctor perform a laser surgery such as lasik or lasek surgery to make sure if he is a right candidate for the surgery.
